BGSU President to Kick Off Perrysburg Rotary Club’s January Leadership Series
December 31, 2024
Rodney K. Rogers, Ph.D., the President of Bowling Green State University, will be the guest speaker at the Perrysburg Rotary Club’s noon luncheon meeting on January 10th, at the Carranor Club in Perrysburg. Rogers will be the kick off speaker in the Perrysburg Rotary Club’s Leadership Series of presentations from business and educational leaders at the club’s weekly meetings in January. Rogers will provide an update on progress and programs at the university.
Rogers, a 1981 Bowling Green State University graduate, assumed the role as the 12th president of Bowling Green State University in February of 2018. Prior to being named president, he had served BGSU as provost and senior vice president for academic affairs since 2012 and, before that, as dean of the Allen W. and Carol M. Schmidthorst College of Business since 2006. He is the first alumnus to serve as president of Bowling Green State University, which currently has more than 20,000 students and 2,300 faculty and staff on its two campuses.
As president, Rogers continues to lead a transformation of Bowling Green State University. He has worked with faculty, staff, and institutional stakeholders to launch two university-wide strategic plans to ensure that BGSU embraces its role as a 21st-century public university for the public good.
Rogers has led the expansion of the University’s academic portfolio with a focus on healthcare and STEM fields. BGSU is also a national leader in private and public partnerships to increase the University’s impact on Ohio and beyond. An example is a recent partnership between BGSU and Penta Career Center on a dual enrollment plan. The plan will allow Penta students to dual enroll at BGSU at no cost, earning college credits while taking career-technical classes at Penta. Upon graduation, students will have an opportunity to earn both their high school diploma and be on an accelerated path to earning a bachelor’s degree at BGSU.
